Tamar Gedevanishvili was born on March 1, 1969, in Tbilisi, Georgia.
EDUCATION
1988−89: Karaman Kutateladze's workshop.
1989−95: Tbilisi State Academy of Art, initially enrolled in the Faculty of Architecture, and later pursued studies in the Faculty of Graphic Design.
WORK
Since 2021, she has been serving as an associate professor at GIPA (Institute of Public Affairs of Georgia), specializing in "Drawing," visual communication/advertising, and communication design.
Since 2002 he has been working as a graphic designer in an advertising companies.
EXHIBITIONS
Tamar held her first solo exhibition in 1987 at the Merani Publishing House.
In June 2022, Tamar presented a solo exhibition titled Improper Intersections at the Museum of History, Karvasla. The exhibition, curated by Lika Mamatsashvili, featured a collection of acrylic paintings and graphic works.
In 2023, Tamar actively participated in the Free City project, a collaborative effort by Georgian artists in solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
On May 6, 2023, she showcased an art performance titled Connections, dedicated to Europe Day and implemented by the European Union and United Nations Development Program. The polyptych presentation was one of the highlighted works at the Expo Georgia Pavilion, curated by Khatuna Khabuliani.
From June 8 to 12, 2023, Tamar was part of the Our Times group exhibition, organized by the Kettari Foundation and curated by Khatuna Khabuliani and Elichka Nadareishvili.
Closing the year, from December 19 to January 14, Tamar contributed to the joint exhibition Holiday/Fiesta at n9Gallery, curated by Maka Iovadze. The exhibition featured three works from the Improper Intersections series, including a 4−part panel measuring 200x140 cm and two additional works sized at 42x30 cm, all created using paper and acrylic.
2024, 19 April–10 May – group exhibition of modern Georgian Artists in Kutaisi at David Kakabadze Fine Art Gallery. Curators Eliso Chogovadze, Mamia Tkeshelashvili. Were presented two works – 1. graphic from the series For a Whole Life 21x30 cm (paper, pen), 2. From the series Improper Intersections, 80x60 cm (paper, acrylic)
2024 May 10–12 – The ART festival of Kardanakhi, in the Ampelo Resort. The founder of the festival is Guram Makhoshvili. Workshop, outdoor work, meetings and conversations with students. One of the participants. The work Ode to Joy was performed. This painting, together with the works of artists participating in the festival, was given to the Kardanakhi Museum of Modern Art for permanent exhibition.
2024 May 26–30 – Under the Sky of Georgia project dedicated to Georgians from Fereydan, Tbilisi National Folklore Center, curator Mamuka Tsutskiridze. The works created by 100 artists went to Fereydan, the city of Martkof Museum as a permanent exhibition. One of the participants. The work was presented - Kutaisi Mon Amour
2024 August 23-30 – Home Georgian Women Artists` Group Exhibition in Basel, Switzerland. At the invitation of Basel Lyceum Club of Switzerland, initiated by Nino Gamsakhurdia,Tbilisi N9 Gallery (owner Maka Iovadze) with the Lyceum Club of Georgia, presented a group exhibition of Georgian women artists, Home, curated by the art critic Sophie Keburia. Tamar Gedevanishvili's serial cycle Life and Love was presented in the form of 4 canvases measuring 50x70 cm each, as well as his graphic works.
"I thought it was a palace, fountains and gardens, peacocks on mowed lawns, everything luxurious and beautiful... and where did that palace disappear? Maybe the peacock got sick and lost its tail, and the fountain got old and covered with moss. The stormy sea and the ruins..."
