Biography
Tamar Gedevanishvili was born on March 1, 1969, in Tbilisi, Georgia.
1988–89: Studied in Karaman Kutateladze's workshop.
1989–95: Attended Tbilisi State Academy of Art, initially enrolled in the Faculty of Architecture and later pursued studies in the Faculty of Graphic Design.
Since 2021, she has been serving as an associate professor at GIPA (Georgian Institute of Public Affairs), specializing in Drawing, Visual Communication/Advertising, and Communication Design.
Since 2002, she has worked as a graphic designer in various advertising companies.
Tamar held her first solo exhibition in 1987 at the Merani Publishing House.
In June 2022, she presented a solo exhibition titled Improper Intersections at the Museum of History, Karvasla. The exhibition, curated by Lika Mamatsashvili, featured a collection of acrylic paintings and graphic works.
In 2023, Tamar actively participated in the Free City project, a collaborative initiative by Georgian artists in solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
On May 6, 2023, she showcased an art performance titled Connections, dedicated to Europe Day and implemented by the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme. The polyptych presentation was one of the highlighted works at the Expo Georgia Pavilion, curated by Khatuna Khabuliani.
From June 8 to 12, 2023, Tamar participated in the Our Times group exhibition, organized by the Kettari Foundation and curated by Khatuna Khabuliani and Elichka Nadareishvili.
Closing the year, from December 19, 2023, to January 14, 2024, she contributed to the joint exhibition Holiday/Fiesta at n9Gallery, curated by Maka Iovadze. The exhibition featured three works from the Improper Intersections series, including a four-part panel measuring 200 x 140 cm, and two additional works sized 42×30 cm, all created using paper and acrylic.
April 19 – May 10, 2024 – Group exhibition of modern Georgian artists, Renovation, in Kutaisi at the David Kakabadze Fine Art Gallery. Curated by Eliso Chogovadze and Mamia Tkeshelashvili. Tamar presented two works: 1. A graphic work from the series For a Whole Life (21 x 30 cm, paper, pen), 2. A painting from the series Improper Intersections (80×60 cm, paper, acrylic).
May 26–30, 2024 – The Art Festival of Kardanakhi at Ampelo Resort. Founded by Guram Makhoshvili. The event included workshops, outdoor sessions, and meetings with students. Tamar participated and created the painting Ode to Joy, which, along with other artists' works, was donated to the Kardanakhi Museum of Modern Art for permanent exhibition.
The exhibition “Improper Intersections” will inevitably remind you of the recurring theme of Marcel Proust’s writings: psychological and emotional states of remembering things past. The artist draws utterly subjective and intimate moments from her memory and places them in a different context.

August 23–30, 2024 – Under the Sky of Georgia project, dedicated to Georgians from Fereydan, held at the Tbilisi National Folklore Center, curated by Mamuka Tsutskiridze. Tamar participated with her work Kutaisi Mon Amour. The artworks of 100 artists were later transferred to the Martkof Museum in Fereydan for permanent exhibition.
August 23–30, 2024 – Home Georgian Women Artists’ Group Exhibition in Basel, Switzerland. Organized by the Basel Lyceum Club in collaboration with the Lyceum Club of Georgia (initiated by Nino Gamsakhurdia and presented by Tbilisi’s n9Gallery, owned by Maka Iovadze). The exhibition was curated by art critic Sophie Keburia. Tamar presented her Life and Love, series (four canvases, each measuring 50 x 70 cm) along with graphic works.
2024. October – Joint art panel Strong Georgia created by Georgian artists. The panel served to deepen European values and democratic processes in Georgia. One of the participants. The work is a part of the panel, 50x70 cm, acrylic, canvas.
2025. January 28 – We Color Georgia – a protest charity exhibition-sale of artists on Rustaveli Avenue to protect democratic values. The works of various artists presented in front of the Parliament reflected the events that have developed in Georgia in recent months. One of the participants. The work entitled – No Justice, No Peace – was purchased by the famous doctor and fighter for democracy Vazha Gaprindashvili. The entire amount was transferred to the Fund for Victims of the Regime.
2025. February – Spain, Hervás / Baños de Montemayor, music festival for young pianists . Ear Valle del Ambroz Music Festival, 2025 Founder of the festival Conservatorio Superior de Música de Badajoz Alexander Kandelaki, organizer Eduardo Mira Anzola. Work performed: Support for the visual part of the festival – original artwork/symbol – acrylic, paper, created only for this festival, as well as creation of the EAR Valle del Ambroz Music Festival logo, poster design, integration into social networks.
2025. March 17-21 – Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, group exhibition – Qart1 – organized by the Artists' Guild, curators Giorgi Gugushvili, Ramaz Razmadze. Using digital technologies, in particular, a virtual viewing of works with a Qr code reader, as well as getting acquainted with the artist's biography and other works. One of the participants. Presented work – Given Time, 50 x 70 cm, acrylic, paper.
May 14, 2025 – Charity group exhibition-sale for #Elene organized by Collect Art Gallery and N9 Gallery. Gallerists Maka Gotsiridze, Tamar Khelashvili, Maka Iovadze. Many artists and visitors participated in the exhibition. Among them, several paintings and graphic works by Tamar Gedevanishvili were presented. The proceeds from the sold works were completely transferred to a special account allocated for Elene.
June 1, 2025 – A group exhibition of graphic works titled Drawings, from the private collection of artist and gallerist Maka Gotsiridze, was opened at Collect Art Gallery, curated by Tamar Khelashvili. Several graphic drawings by Tamar Gedevanishvili from this collection were also exhibited at the exhibition.
